Building a Culture of Courage Around Conflict

In 2021, Lodge Labs was hired by a medium-sized media company to facilitate sessions for their executive leadership team. The goal was to navigate persistent conflict in the leadership team in healthy ways, while introducing tools for personal and collective resilience.

As a result of this process, the executive team reported a much healthier and more collaborative working dynamic and has since institutionalized the use of the tools across the organization. We've done ongoing work together to instill healthy communication and conflict practices in their culture with the entire team. Some of the tools include:

  • Non-Violent Communication & other frameworks for Navigating Conflict and having Courageous Conversations.

  • A modified approach focused on a human-centered take on the concept of Radical Honesty.

  • Identifying and responding to emotional triggers with tools for personal resiliency in the workplace.

  • Building celebration and acknowledgement into daily practice.

  • Creating a culture of active feedback and a framework for feedback processes.

  • Evaluating existing culture characteristics, setting targets, and a building strategic plan for organizational culture moving forward.

  • Identifying inequitable cultural characteristics and supporting change in organizational systems.
